We left the little town of Jugiong by 10am after reporting to the publican that the donation box at the campground was full and could be easily have notes taken from it. He thanked us and was attending to it as we left. Its great that people donate and support these small towns, as they pass through. On the road or should I say, on an outback track ,of Chris’s choosing, we became lost . Yep the tomtom is wrong again !! Now .take 2. Bells Rd looks like the way to go. Arrived in Mr Bells home paddock. about 10kms down the narrowing track. Mr Bell wasn’t home. but his not so hospitable cattle dog was. Thankfully chained up. what a commotion, quick turn around and out of there. Now back on track we pulled up beside a river for lunch. would be a great spot to camp and fish. Time to move on, Took a short drive up to the lookout in Batlow, for a photo of the apple town. Made it into Tumbarumba, in time to grab a few supplies before setting up camp at Paddy’s Angel Flat.

2018 03 27 Canberra ACT.
Today we unhooked the van, packed a picnic lunch, yes a picnic!, and left for a day in Canberra. Chris decided to take the back roads, through the hills, so dry out here, stock wandering around rock exposed paddocks, looking for fodder. Finally after a long way , and wrong way, and a photo stop of the bridge in Wee Jasper we made it into Canberra about 1pm. Spent 4 hrs in the war memorial. Interesting time ,as well as checking out relatives that served. As the sun went down, we remembered them, as the shadows fell over the wall of honour. Oh, the picnic, we stopped beside the road, rather hungry at 5.30pm. Got back to camp around 7pm. Another good day.
2018 03 Pheasants Nest to Jugiong
Yesterday evening we pulled into a parking area, at Pheasants Nest .Not bad for an overnight stop, before heading out about 9.30 this morning. By the time we got to Goulburn the pleasant weather had turned miserable. Rain and blowing a gale. Called into Berrima, busy with tourists, so we didn’t stop. At our lunch break we walked around tracks on the old highway ,took photos of the water culverts built in the 1830s. Great work of art compared to the concrete pipes ,used under the new highway. We’re now at Jugiong sports ground on the river. Quite a few others camped here. We’ll rest up for a couple of days, as this lifestyle can be hard going .ha ha. No tv, but that’s ok. Met another couple that have a van like ours, they are happy with theirs too. Now for a couple of photos and an early night.
Jugiong is a very small town on the Murrumbidgee River.
